Širenje informacija od javnog značaja danas se efikasno vrši putem interneta. I dok se i dalje razvijaju i unapređuju tradicionalno poznati mediji kao što su radio, televizija i štampana izdanja, vesti online sveta su najzastupljeniji kanal informisanja ljudi u modernom vremenu. Internet kao globalna mreža, koja je omogućila komunikaciju, interakciju i saradnju bez obzira na vremenske razlike, granice jedne zemlje i interesovanja, postao je deo svakodnevnice ljudi, bez koje je gotovo nezamislivo upoznavanje najnovije vesti. Ogroman značaj vesti na internetu potvrđuje i činjenica da se pre gotovo 20 godina u Americi, čak 25% ljudi najmanje tri puta sedmično informisalo na ovaj način.

Širenje vesti u modernom vremenu

Vesti online sveta imaju apsolutnu dominaciju, kao kanal širenja informacija putem medijskih portala, društvenih mreža, sajtova i drugih stranica na globalnoj platformi. Danas se najnovije vesti saopštavaju putem zvaničnih stranica javnih organa i institucija, komapnija, organizacija i udruženja. Istovremeno, objavljuju ih mediji na svojim društvenim mrežama, najčešće Facebook i Instagram stranica, a prvenstveno budu Informisanje od javnosti putem vesti online sveta postavljene na portale.

Moderni, „smart“ ili „pametni“ uređaji, prvenstveno se koriste za maksimalno brz, lak i efikasan pristup internetu. Najnovije vesti smeštene su na medijskim portalima, na kojima se mogu pronaći uvek, i kada god zatreba, osim u slučaju da ne budu obrisane iz bilo kojih razloga. Ukoliko to nije slučaj, čak i da se vesti pretražuju nakon dužeg vremena, mogu se naći u određenoj kategoriji. Savremene aplikacije koje se koriste na telefonu, obezbeđuju direktan put do vesti, a najčešće sami portali šalju obaveštenja kada se pojave novi naslovi na njihovom sajtu za informisanje. 

Pojedinačni korisnici mogu da odaberu koje medijske portale će da imaju na svom mobilnom telefonu, kao i da li će im stizati obaveštenja kada vesti budu postavljene, ili ne. Sve vesti su multimedijalnog karaktera, što znači da kombinuju sliku, zvuk, animacije i tekstualnu formu. Internet omogućava da se sadržaji čitaju, gledaju i istovremeno realno doživljavaju. Živopisne boje, u kombinaciji sa video snimcima, uživo prenosima i saopštenjima za javnost pružaju potpuno realne vesti, koje će biti koncizne, razumljive i jasne.

Informisanje javnosti putem vesti online sveta predstavlja najpopularniji način širenja svih relevantnih događaja, zanimljivosti i drugih tokova ka javnosti.U zavisnosti od preferencija, internet korisnici mogu da odaberu da li će najnovije vesti da saznaju na portalima određenih medijskih kuća koje već imaju televizijsku frekvenciju, radio stanice, štampana izdanja, kao i koji konkretni sajtovi će biti njihov izvor informacija.
